For about 10% of what it would cost to have a dedicated person on the team with our skills, we will shepherd you and your leadership to achieve aggressive growth targets. Working with incredible tools from Scaling Up and the Rockefeller Habits 2.0 by Verne Harnish as well as lots of influence from Patrick Lencioni, Steven Covey, Jim Collins, and even a little from Ted Lasso. We will dig into your business and lay out a plan for where we can make the biggest impact first.

Introducing the Insightful Growth Strategies Founder, John Dathan

Having been in the IT sector for over 40 years, John decided he really wanted to take his passion for growth and help people just like him. After growing up in the early PC days, to networking, dot-com, e-commerce, through to AI and Machine learning, he has been a leader in the Canadian IT space. John has lead the Canadian operations of Fortune 500 companies including divisions of Nortel Networks, Juniper Networks, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and most recently as the SVP and GM of Insight Canada. Under his leadership at Insight, the team doubled the business to gross revenues greater than $850M and became the 3rd largest IT Solutions provider in Canada.

A life long learner with a passion for results, he wants to help clients with an area that was a frustration during his career. Even with his passion for working ‘on the business’, it was always difficult because working ‘in the business’ would take over. His desire is to find people just like himself and partner with leaders to both build an execute on plans that will significantly grow the business.

Married with three adult children, he has the ability to be anywhere and not just where his home is in Ottawa, Canada. When not working, John enjoys being with his wife Joanne and their three kids, playing golf or guitar, and seeing his grandkids whenever he can.

How will we work together?

Like everything, this is a people business. It starts with a conversation to get to know each other and see if we both feel we can get things done together. In the initial meeting we will talk a little about you and your business, a little about myself, and a little about how Scaling Up will be leveraged.

When we agree to work together, we will discuss the milestones, desired outcomes, measurements and cadence. I charge a monthly retainer for my services and ask for a 3 month commitment up front so we can both invest the time to make longer term decisions. After that it is month to month and if at ANYTIME, you decide you aren’t seeing enough value or that you no longer need coaching services, we shake hands and part ways. Please don’t pay the last invoice and all I would ask in return is a debrief meeting. I decided a long time ago that in business we either win or learn, I would want to learn how we could have had a different outcome.

I am very confident that I can add value to your business. I don’t have all the answers but because I am dedicated to this function inside your business, I can shepherd you and your leadership team to ensure we have the right people, the right strategy, the right level of execution, and the cash flow to make it all happen. I will need your support to hold people accountable for agreed upon actions and timelines.

My plan is to work with no more than four or five clients at a time and am looking to build long term partnerships with incredible results.
